This golf match is intended to raise funds for COVID-19 relief. Obviously, this is a star-studded field and the trash talk has already begun. Brady posted this picture on social media previewing the event.
Brady clearly is not intimidated by Manning or Woods as he’s already started going at them. I’m looking forward to watching this matchup as it’ll provide some entertaining TV that we’ve been missing since the start of quarantine. I’m a Patriots fan so, of course, I’ll be rooting for Brady and Mickelson. Even though Brady left New England for Tampa, I’m hoping he walks onto the course with Shipping Up To Boston playing in the background.
With the lack of sports and entertainment on TV, it seems as if everyone is watching the Last Dance on ESPN. The Last Dance is a documentary focusing on the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. ESPN releases two episodes every Sunday at 9:00 PM EST and it seems like everyone is tuning in to watch. So far, episodes 1 through 4 have been released and I have really been enjoying them. The producer did a great job including other storylines other than Michael Jordan. Scottie Pippen was very involved in episodes 1 and 2 while episodes 3 and 4 had more of a focus on Dennis Rodman. It’s really interesting to learn about this team because it was before my time. I’ve obviously seen all of the Michael Jordan highlights like this
but I never knew much about the team and the controversy surrounding them. The documentary has been great so far and I’m looking forward to the new episodes at the end of this week.
Recently, I have been watching the Formula One documentary on Netflix. I wasn’t interested in Formula One or Nascar or any type of racing competition. The documentary had great reviews though and it was trending on Netflix so I decided to give it a shot. The documentary has been superb and I am learning a lot about Formula One. It’s not only about the drivers but the teams, sponsors and cars as well. The series is packed with action and goes into great detail about every team. The cars absolutely fly around the track just like this:
Don’t worry though, the cars only go 200 MPH. Additionally, the cars have a very cool design. The color layout and finish of the car really separate some cars from the rest, in terms of design. My favorite car in Formula One is:

This past week, Lady Gaga organized a virtual concert filled with some of the biggest names in the music industry from Paul McCartney to Elton John. There were tons of great performances. Elton John sang “I’m Still Standing,” Stevie Wonder sang “Lean on Me” and John Legend and Sam Smith sang “Stand By Me.” All of these renditions were incredible but my favorite performance was “What A Wonderful World” sung by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. The song was originally performed by Louis Armstrong in the 1960s but Cabello and Mendes put their own spin on it. The video of them singing this song is given below.
The original version by Louis Armstrong can be found below.

Life in isolation is a lot harder than I would’ve expected. I’m a quiet individual and I tend to keep to myself. I do my best to avoid discussions, interactions and contact just like this man.
Despite this, I’m still finding the lack of human contact to be difficult. Additionally, there’s very little separation between work and leisure so it can be quite complicated to differentiate between the two. There are times where I just have to take a step back and relax. Sometimes relaxing music like the track below can be helpful.
Just like the rest of us, I’m slowly pushing through and trying to get past this coronavirus chaos. Luckily, my family and I are safe which is the most important thing during times like this. For now, I’ll continue to make my way through quarantine like this.
As if Ariana Grande wasn’t blessed with enough talent as a singer and actor, she was also given the ability to do unbelievable impressions. This clip from Saturday Night Live shows her remarkable ability to impersonate other singers and match their voices perfectly. She can hit all of the notes from Rihanna to Shakira. It truly is an interesting scene on SNL and while it may not be incredibly funny, it’s extremely impressive to see what Ariana Grande’s able to do. She produces tracks that top the charts like the one given below and she’s also able to do things like this. Some things just aren’t fair. You can check out her personalized website which is given here.
The most influential scene in this piece has to be the scene where the man and woman look at all of the animals together. It’s Chris Marker’s way of solidifying the relationship between the man and the woman.
Throughout the entire film as the man and woman spend time together, neither expresses much emotion. Despite this, in this scene, both of them are seen laughing and touching. They seem extremely happy to be with one another which almost clinches the viewer’s thought that these two individuals must be married. Marker does an unbelievable job withholding emotion at the beginning of the piece and letting it all out in this one scene.
This is precisely what makes the scene so substantial. Marker uses the difference in emotion to get his point across to his viewers. He doesn’t explain what is going on or why things are different, he just shows it using the emotions of his characters. You can feel a shift in the mood and a shift in their relationship which is why, as a viewer, you’re left asking yourself, “Do things seem to be going a bit too smoothly right now?”
This scene also makes the viewer feel a little bit on edge though. It’s almost as if everything is going too smoothly and something bad is about to happen. This is exactly the case as this is the final scene between the man and the woman. You can feel the tide start to turn which is exactly what Chris Marker must have intended.
Not only are you captivated by the man and the woman in this scene, but you’re also captivated by the animals. There’s one image of the man and woman looking at a hippo and as the viewer, you can’t ignore the fact of how big and lifelike that hippo really is. The hippo’s head alone appears larger than both the man and the woman which is a bit breathtaking as it demonstrates how massive this animal truly is.
This scene marked the beginning of my appreciation for the piece. Marker did a great job building up the film and at this moment, I knew the relationship between the man and the woman was coming to an end. To be able to give the viewer this impression, with little words and no video is an incredible skill. I was extremely appreciative of Marker’s filmmaking ability during this scene. I had no clue this would just be the beginning of all of the chaos.
La Jetée was shot in 1962 so it’s not as if the visuals in this film are incredible. In fact, the film only includes photographs. There is no video or anything like that, just images that appear on the screen.
Despite all of this, the plot of the film is fantastic. It’s unbelievably captivating and has a remarkable plot twist at the end. Throughout the whole film, the man has a strong affection for this one woman who he last saw on the deck. He does not know why this woman is so important to him or how he knows her, but his affection for her is consistent throughout the movie. For the majority of the film, the man travels back in time and spends as much time as he can with this woman. They spend time together, laugh and just enjoy each other’s company which makes you think they may have been husband and wife or at least boyfriend and girlfriend.
The man then travels to the future and brings back exactly what the commanders are looking for. They no longer need his help which means they’re simply going to kill him because they have no alternative use for him. The people from the future go back in time and are willing to bring the man to the future with them to escape his death.
Instead of escaping to the future, the man wishes to go back to the deck to be with the woman. As a viewer, you think, “Okay, he wants to spend his last moments with his wife.” Then, as he’s running towards the woman on the deck, he recognizes one of the men who held him hostage. As this happens, he realizes there’s no way to escape time and comes to the realization that this was the moment when he died as a young boy. I did not see this coming at all. What an amazing twist at the end of the movie to really catch the viewer off guard. This gif below describes exactly how I felt at the end.
The film may lack visually as it was filmed in 1962, but the plot is riveting and definitely keeps the viewer’s attention throughout the piece. Chris Marker does a remarkable job building the relationship of the man and the woman throughout the piece which makes the viewer contemplate the nature of their relationship. Then, Marker allows the viewer to realize that this woman was the last person that the man saw before his death as a child. I was skeptical of this piece at first due to the still images, but La Jetée certainly exceeded my expectations.

Movies in the theater are always better than at home. There’s better sound, better picture and a better environment. The lack of reviews makes it difficult to know which movies in the theater are truly worth seeing. There’s nothing worse than going to the movies and seeing a mediocre film. Lots of money and time wasted on a film that didn’t even excite.
I believe that there is a big difference between a computer predicting what you’re going to do and a computer deciding for you. The thing about humans is that we’re unpredictable. If we constantly listen to what the computer decides for us, humans will lose their unique touch. While this uniqueness is not always for the best, it is a part of life and we would no longer be humans without it. While it’s definitely appropriate to use the computer program to make some decisions or suggestions for you, every life decision should not be made by the computer.
